PepperSmack’s Chocolate Jolokia “Ghost” Pepper Dust is ground from the freshest and hottest variety of dehydrated Chocolate Bhut Jolokia Peppers.
The Chocolate Bhut Jolokia is a variation of the Bhut Jolokia “Ghost” Pepper and the primary characteristics of the two remain the same. The color of the Chocolate Bhut Jolokia is brown (hence why it’s has “chocolate” in its name). It has an incredibly sweet taste and fruity smell. These peppers are excruciatingly hot. While the Scoville rating of Chocolate Bhut Jolokias has typically ranged from between 850,000 - 1,001,304 SHU, the farmer that grows our peppers says that our chocolate bhut jolokias measure in excess of 1 million SHU. It has been noted by “PepperScale” that the Chocolate Bhut Jolokia has a deceivingly slow burn. “On first bite, you actually taste the chili’s unique flavors, but soon the heat upticks (approximately 30 seconds) and continues to build for 30 minutes before (again slowly) dissipating.”
This dust comes in a container with a sifter. To bring heat and flavor to your food, you simply shake it on your food like you would salt or ground black pepper. But be very careful.
