Named for the town of Jalapa, Mexico, the jalapeño pepper is the most popular chile pepper in the United States. Note also that the Jalapeño became the first pepper in space when a bag full of pods accompanied astronauts on the shuttle Columbia in November 1982! Yes, this is a popular chile pepper.
Like other peppers, jalapenos are a rich source of vitamin C. One jalapeno provides 18 percent of the recommended daily allowance of Vitamen C for men and 23 percent for women. This pepper also supplies a good amount of vitamin A, which supports skin and eye health. One pepper offers 17 percent of the RDA for men and 22 percent for women. And there are no nasty preservatives in our product; vinegar is the only preservative in the recipe.
