Smack-It Laura’s ‘Always Perfect’ Cornbread        


1 package Martha White Gladiola White Cornbread Mix
2/3 cup buttermilk (do not substitute)
1 egg slightly beaten
2 tablespoons canola oil
PepperSmack™ pepper paste (the size of the smack depends on your heat tolerance.) 


Preheat oven to 425°. 

Place oil in 8 inch oven proof skillet or pan.  Place in oven for 7 to 8 minutes or until hot. Combine butter milk and egg in mixing bowl and whip until smooth.  Add cornbread mix and PepperSmack™ pepper paste.  Stir until smooth.  Take skillet from oven and pour half of oil into bread mixture.  Stir.  Pour bread mixture into hot skillet or pan.  Bake at 425° for 22 minutes or until golden brown.  Double recipe: Simply double ingredients, but use larger skillet or pan.  Slice and serve.  Of course, additional PepperSmack™ pepper paste can be spread over cornbread or plopped on plate and eaten with the meal.
