Smack-It Lois’ Depression Era Chili


1 tablespoon cooking oil
2 pounds ground beef
ground black pepper
2 cloves garlic
4 cups water
3 tablespoons chili powder
1 - 16 oz cans of undrained diced tomatoes
1 can chili with beans
PepperSmack™ pepper paste, coarse pepper or pepper dust


In a skillet, heat oil and then add beef, salt, pepper, and garlic.  Cook ground beef until brown.  Pour off grease and pat with paper towel to remove excess grease.  In large pot, bring water, chili powder, and smack of  PepperSmack™ pepper paste, coarse pepper or pepper dust, to a boil.  Add ground beef mixture, tomatoes, and can of chili with beans to pot with water and chili powder.  Season with salt, pepper, and additional chili pepper to taste.  Add more PepperSmack™ pepper paste and chili powder if you like it additionally spicy.  Simmer for 1 hour.  Serve with saltines.
